The first private university in Cross River State — Arthur Jarvis University — was on Saturday introduced with the registration of 100 students, the News Agency of Nigeria revealed.
The college, situated at Akpabuyo Local Government Area, has two resources — Basic and Applied Sciences and Social Management Sciences.
The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Winifred Oyo-Ita, who played out the initiation function, said interest in training was the surest approach to making progress and achievements in any country.
"As I authoritatively announce open the beginning of this college today, I wish to praise the proprietor for nursing the thought to put resources into instruction," she said.
Mrs. Oyo-Ita, who praised the proprietor, Arthur-Jarvis Archibong, for building up the organization, communicated the expectation that it would support financial and instructive exercises in the range and the state.
The establishment's Vice-Chancellor, Julian Osuji, said the vision of the college was to prep understudies to be envoys of the college and the nation, promising to instill moral teach and scholastic greatness in the understudies.
Bassey Asuquo, the director, Board of Trustees of the college, said the college brought off with 10 divisions in two resources and 15 programs.
Mr. Asuquo, a teacher and former Vice chancellor of the University of Calabar, said the administration would work steadily to guarantee that the organization supplemented the endeavors of the state government to change the status of the state as one of the instructively impeded states.
